PEMEX and MAERSK OILE OG GAS A/S, Danish company signed a non-commercial agreement

PEMEX Exploracion y Production and MAERSK OLIE OG GAS A/S. signed a non-commercial General Cooperation Agreement regarding research scientific and technological development agreement.

PEMEX Exploracion y Production General Manager, Carlos A. Morales Gil, and Mr. Jørgen Liboriussen, Senior Vice-president signed the agreement.

This agreement follows up on the State Visit the Mexican President, Felipe Calderon Hinojosa made to Denmark where he held meetings to improve the relationship between these two countries.

It is worth to mention that this agreement is in line with the Programa de Capacitación Profesional (Professional Training Program) that PEMEX has and which is part of the efforts from both companies to promote cooperation and a technological Exchange.

The signing of non-commercial agreements of this kind is a common practice in the international oil industry.

Some of the advantages of signing non-commercial Agreements with other companies are:

• Obtain better practices and experience from companies with international prestige.
• Develop skills and disciplines which are fundamental in the hydrocarbons’ exploration and exploitation of.
• To implement technical exchanges in other countries/companies in order to speed up the learn-by-doing learning process.

MAERSK OLIE OG GAS A/S (Maersk Oil) and subsidiaries belong to the A.P. Moller – Maersk A/S Group and are part of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group.

Nowadays, Maersk Oil is an international oil company which produces more than 650,000 oil barrels per day and up to 1 billion standard cubic feet per day of natural gas.

Their operations take place in the Danish – British – German and Norwegian region of the North Sea; in Qatar, Algeria, Angola, Kazajstán, Turkmenistan, Oman, Morocco, Colombia, Brazil, Surinam and in the Gulf of Mexico, in the coastal region that belongs to the United States.

During 2007 and for the first months of 2008, Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) has signed and extended different non-commercial cooperation agreements with oil companies in line with an international company strengthening.
