It was announced by Mr. Atiya Salem, deputy chairman of NBE Board of Directors that National Maritime Transport Co. has placed an order with STX Shipyard of South Korea to build six vessels of 81,000 tons & 86,000 tons capacity valued USD251.6 million under finance from National Bank of Egypt (NBE).
Any additional details on the deal are not disclosed yet.
About STX:
STX Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. has built about 500 ships over the last 40 years in Busan and Jinhae. STX Shipbuilding is in possession of specialized facilities and layout for building ships in the 30,000~80,000 ton class. STX Shipbuilding is planning to expand its business to include highly lucrative types of ships such as pure car carriers and Ferries, and is preparing to launch new services like Special Ships, offshore & plants and REITs to strengthen its business structure.
