Cemtrex to Pursue Emissions Monitoring on Marine Ships

Source: PR Newswire

FARMINGDALE, N.Y., Feb. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cemtrex Inc. (OTC: CTEX) announced that it is pursuing the emissions monitoring market for marine ships and cruise lines for measurement of nitrogen oxide and smoke.

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) adopted Annex VI of MARPOL that provides regulations for the prevention of air pollution from ships. The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the IMO subsequently passed several subsidiary regulations.

"Diesel engines with a power output of more than 130 kWh have to meet the requirements of NOx emission and this applies to ships constructed on/after January 1, 2000 and engines that undergo major conversion on/after January 1, 2000," said Mr. Aron Govil, CEO & President of Cemtrex. "There are three options for ship owners to document compliance with the NOx requirements of a ship after the initial survey such as engine parameter check, on-board simplified measurement, and on-board direct measurement and monitoring."

Cemtrex is pursuing various projects with large fleets of cruise lines to implement the NOx and Smoke Monitors to comply with the code. Cemtrex's NOx analyzer works in extreme conditions expected in marine applications where excessive vibrations and saline atmosphere would adversely affect the performance of other conventional CEMS.

Cemtrex provides turnkey services for carbon creation projects from abatement of greenhouse gases pursuant to the Kyoto Protocol and assists project owners in the buying and selling of carbon credits globally.

Cemtrex through its MIP division is engaged in manufacturing and selling the most advanced and custom-engineered instruments for emission monitoring. The Company's products are sold to power plants, refineries, chemical plants, cement plants and other industries, including federal and state governmental agencies.
