New Delhi, Jul 27 (PTI) Government is implementing 276 projects to develop major ports under the National Maritime Development Project, Shipping Minister G K Vasan told the Lok Sabha today.
Replying to supplementaries, Vasan said 276 projects to develop major ports along the coastline were being implemented.
Asked about minor ports, the minister said the responsibility for development of non-major ports vested with the respective state government.
Vasan asked the states to take up development of non-major ports themselves.
A proposal to set up Andaman and Nicobar Port Trust with headquarters at Port Blair was under examination by the government, he said.
