KYIV, July 22. (UKRINFORM). Ukraine and Russia intend to create a unified system for monitoring the safety of navigation in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas and the Kerch Strait. This is stated in the press service of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine.
Such an agreement the parties reached at a meeting of a bilateral expert group on the integration of transport systems in Moscow.
It is assumed that the national association of automatic identification systems (AIS), the two countries will enhance the effectiveness of controls over ships: users of the system will be able to get the exact location of ships, their direction and speed, as well as information about the availability of dangerous goods in the seas.
The experts agreed on a draft agreement on cooperation in maritime and aviation search and rescue in the Black and Azov seas, as well as a draft agreement on the regulation of shipping in the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait.
On the basis of the latter instrument is proposed to establish the Ukrainian-Russian maritime commission to ensure the safety of navigation in the Azov Sea and Kerch Strait.
The parties also agreed on a draft agreement on the procedure and conditions for navigation of vessels on inland waterways, which is aimed at simplifying the transportation of goods along the rivers and reservoirs of the two countries.
